2nd choose a launcher

Using a launcher to spin Top

Put Top into large launcher hole

Put stiff end of cord into small hole on the top

Wind cord by hand turning the top

When knob at the end of the cord reaches the top you are ready to launch

Hold top launcher so Top point is facing the floor.

Pull cord quickly and lift launcher upward to remove from spinning top

Takes some practice but we've seen little kids do it!

How to use a self launcher

Wind launching cord onto top

Place stiffened end of cord in launcher hole

Turn top to wind cord onto self launcher

When cord handle is snug against launcher you may pull, quickly

turn top point to the floor and release

About Our Tops

TOPS have been enjoyed by people of many cultures around the world for more than 5,000 thousand years and are still enjoyed by young and old alike today. Tops have a wide variety of types and designs from hand spun tops to the string thrown tornado tops, launcher spun string tops, tippy tops, whip tops, and many others.

ABOUT OUR TOPS:

Our tops are spun by means of a launcher and string. This provides the speed for a fun, sustained spinning time. Some are “Self Contained” and have the launcher built in but are still string launched. They are all beautiful and fun to watch.

Our tops come in various sizes:
Small – less than 2 inches in diameter
Medium – 2 to 3 inches
Large – 3 to 4 inches
Extra Large – greater than 4 inches

All our tops are hand made (with the use of power tools such a lathe, power saw etc.), Unseen anomalies within the wood may affect the size or design and ultimate outcome of each top.

Each piece is unique, It may sound cliché, but the wood tells us what it will be. There may be a basic design in mind when we start, but the wood, by the way it is cutting and handling during the manufacture process seems to dictate the outcome.

Each top is equipped with a steel brad spinning center (tip). It is to protect the tip and provide long lasting enjoyment. The brads are driven in to the wood during the construction process. Damage to the tip may alter the spinning dynamics of the top.

Each top spins with its own spinning characteristics. Internal differences in the wood density may cause a slight wobble, or cause it to wander some times erratically, or some tops will spin as if standing still. All are fun to watch.

ENVIROMENT & HEALTH
Our wooden tops are made from exotic hard woods from around the globe. They are some of the most beautiful woods in the world. Great efforts are made to use woods that are milled from dead fall logs, mill ends and wood pallets. We do not want our products to contribute to live wood harvesting or deforestation of the rain forests of our planet.

The wood finishes used are non-toxic and child safe. We have done intense researched to find finishes that best fulfill this goal. We use no stains, we only use clear finishes to best display the natural beauty of the wood.
